Meet the Staff
Editor Jan Parr has been an editor at Chicago magazine for 11 years and has edited Chicago HOME + GARDEN since its inception. She was editor of Online Investor magazine, and began her career as a reporter for Forbes. As a freelance writer, Jan has contributed articles to Elle Decor, Cottage Living, House Beautiful, Vegetarian Times, Travel & Leisure, and other publications.
Megan Duffy Rostan, art director of Chicago HOME + GARDEN, is a former associate art director of Chicago magazine. She previously was art director of Upside Magazine, LAN Times, and The Prague Post and has designed book covers and interiors for Loyola Press.
Joanne Trestrail, senior editor, was formerly managing editor of Chicago magazine and a features editor at the Chicago Tribune. She is a dining critic for Chicago magazine and has written for many publications, including Travel & Leisure, Biography, and Outside.
Nathan Kirkman’s photographs have appeared in Metropolis, Money, Wired, This Old House, and Chicago magazines.
Kate Roth specializes in architectural and interiors photography. Her work has appeared in Elle Décor and Woman’s Day.
Alan Shortall photographs interiors and architecture for Chicago magazine, Veranda, and Crate & Barrel.
Gina Bazer, senior writer, was formerly the editor of Chicago Social magazine.
Barri Leiner, contributing editor, is a freelance writer and stylist and the former style reporter for WGN-TV. She is the co-author of three books, Flea Market Baby, Flea Market Fido, and Home Rules (with Nate Berkus).
