There’s a lot to like at this year’s DreamHome at the Merchandise Mart, which was unveiled Thursday evening. This is my favorite home yet. Two standout themes: a focus on artwork, much of it from the new Bradley Hughes showroom. The art here is not an afterthought but a central part of each room. And wallpaper—textured, glorious, handmade wallpaper—most of it from the new Maya Romanoff showroom. We also spotted some great design ideas. CH+G art director Megan Duffy Rostan liked the way fur was draped over a bench in Michael del Piero’s study (shown here) and a rug over a coffee table in Scott Himmel’s living room. Talk about a quick fix that can be changed out in a minute. I liked the two-top table (in addition to the main, round table) in Frank Ponterio’s dramatic dining room. Why save the dining room for big parties? And when a big party is going on, the small table can be pressed into service as a dessert table or bar. We’ll post more photos later, but you’ve got til December to see it, so why not get in there? —Jan Parr Posted at 12:05 PM in Spotted | Back to all posts |
