In the days before Style.com, buyers at luxury European retailers had to sketch at fashion shows to remember what they wanted to buy for their clientele. That’s lucky for us, because now we can use them to decorate a dressing room, bedroom, or bath. Our friend Jeannie, who owns Figaro Parisian Interiors, has one-of-a-kind sketches drawn at the Christian Dior and Balmain fashion shows in Paris in 1965. She also has beautiful watercolors of 1940s fashion and illustrations used by a New York fashion house in the ’50s an ’60s, complete with style numbers and fabric notations. Jeannie has put these bits of fashion history on sale, both framed ($236, down from $295) and unframed ($68-$76, from $85-$95) through the end of the month at the Andersonville Galleria location. Figaro’s fashion illustrations are also on display at Julie Watson Style in the 900 North Michigan Shops (by appointment only). —Jan Parr Posted at 11:08 AM in InBox | Back to all posts |
