Color it Uber-Bright
How do you tweak a familiar design to make it feel new again? Just add color. Better yet, make it neon (well, practically). Two companies have done just that lately—the Italian house Seletti punked up some very traditional porcelain serving dishes with its new Versailles Fluo collection ($175 each, at ID) while the Scandinavian tabletop line Stelton, in honor of its 50th birthday, commissioned British fashion designer Paul Smith to make Arne Jacobsen’s famous tea and coffee service even more modern than they already were—he did it by adding some shock to the handles (well, actually the line is available in Pastel, Bright, and Muted), starting at $79 at Stockholm Objects. Watch out beige-ists, neon just might be the new it-color in home design.
