Finish this Sentence: Monique Meloche

Gallery owner Monique Meloche, left, and Platner dining set, designed in 1966 by Warren Platner for Knoll.

Monique Meloche is best known for her eponymous contemporary art gallery in Wicker Park, but she’s also a devoted fashion, design, and music lover who loves to party down. This Saturday, from 4 to 7 p.m., check out the opening for the works of Sheree Hovsepian and Kerry James Marshall at her gallery. And now, let’s see how she finishes these sentences.

1. When I’m in the mood for comfort food I hit the old school Erie Cafe and always order whitefish with lemon, butter, and capers from our favorite waiters Tony and Arnold.

 2. My ideal night out is actually in, preferably at our beach house cooking up a feast with friends, karaoke-ing to my Singing Machine, and ultimately ending in a late-night dance party. Note: Prince is usually involved.

3. My can’t-live-without techie toy is my Skullcandy Roc Nation Aviator headphones in a sweet cognac-colored leather with gold trim—a holiday gift from my husband.

4. The most beloved piece of furniture in my home is our vintage round Platner dining table and chairs with original (and pristine) upholstery that we found at Pegboard Modern with the help of our good friend and interior designer extraordinaire Jordana Joseph. It’s at our beach house, which was built in 1956 with true Miesian flair.

5. The most visually inspiring place in Chicago other than my gallery is the third floor in the Renzo Piano-designed Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, not only for the Giacometti Three Men Walking sculptures, but for the incredible views of Millennium Park, the Frank Gehry pavilion, and especially the city from such a unique vantage point. —GINA BAZER
