Martyn George Opens

Last week we attended the opening party for Martyn George: Curated Culinary Objects, a tiny jewel of a shop on Grand Avenue, in the new design district. The shop is owned by Johanna Lowe, a talented photo stylist whose home in Buchanan, Michigan, we featured here. Kitchens are some of the most impersonal spaces we see here in our work; shop this store and yours won’t be. The items in this shop are all related to the kitchen and cooking. Nearly everything is vintage; some things are meant as props to be rented for photoshoots; others are in tip-top shape and ready to use. Mixing bowls, vintage knives with gorgeous handles, vintage linens, old coffee tins—it’s a shop with a sepia tone wash over it. We adore it.
