Pendant Lamp, no Hardwiring Required

I have a game/breakfast table surrounded by chairs in a corner of my living room and don’t want to invest in getting a light fixture hard-wired above it. And yet late night Scrabble (and my home-décor obsession) calls for good lighting! What to do? I’ve come across two options I like: the Woven Seagrass pendant from West Elm ($89) and the Mechanic’s Beacon light from Anthropologie ($148). I like the flexibility of a plug-in situation because the time may come when that corner is occupied by something else! The photo above shows how one Brooklyn couple approached overhead lighting (via DesignSponge). Has anyone solved this dilemma at their house? —GINA BAZER
