We gather leads from trade magazines, from other professionals in the field, and via word of mouth. In business for 40 years, Portnoy specializes in space planning, custom built-ins, and furniture design, although he also designs residences from the ground up. In addition to local projects, he has worked on homes in Colorado and California. A recent project found him decorating an Italian villa–style home in Highland Park, near the lake.
