Since 1978, Arild Farkvam has been a go-to guy for hardwood floors. While his firm does many straightforward refinishing and installation jobs, it is known for expert work on tough problems, such as matching dark stains or coping with areas requiring scraping or sanding by hand. There’s no showroom: One of A & K’s pros will come to your home for a free estimate on a project. (Installation and refinishing are typically charged by the square foot.) Prefinished floors are also available.
