Newlyweds Douglas and Anne Ramsell Dowd had such a blast scouring antique stores, estate sales, and local shops while decorating their new home that they decided to open up their very own home décor store in Oak Park.

Called Refind Home (139 S. Oak Park Ave.), the shop is gearing up for its grand opening this weekend and will be full of mid-century modern furniture, textiles, gifts, and accessories.

But what sets this store apart from others is that everything there comes with a “green" story. It could be that it was made locally, or used and recycled, or repurposed. The idea is that you can shop based solely on what you think is the prettiest, knowing that anything you buy there will be eco-friendly.

You’ll find throw blankets by In2Green, glasses by Vital Industries, and more. The store is set to open its doors August 31—two weeks before the Dowd’s first anniversary.
