Items from the Small Manufacturing Alliance

Loco for Local

It’s the opening weekend of Chicago Artists Month, so tomorrow isn’t the night to stay in and catch up on Dexter (as tempting as that may be). Instead, check out the pop-up showroom for the Small Manufacturing Alliance. On display will be beautifully made furniture and functional objects—all manufactured locally. You’ll see work from Rebuilding Exchange, Lagomorph Design, Blake Sloan, Strand Design, zakrose, M26 Studio, and a lot more. The event is free and runs tomorrow night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Skyline loft on the 5th floor of the Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St.

West is Best

West Town is turning its boutiques, cafes, and salons into temporary art galleries this weekend for the second annual West Town Art Walk. Tomorrow through Sunday, take a stroll down Chicago Avenue from Milwaukee to Damen and check out participating locations. The list includes Branch 27, RR1, Urban Source, Leopold, Dovetail, Seek Vintage, The Noble Grape, Inside Home, Sprout Home, and more (see the complete list at westtownartwalk.com). Each spot will feature a local artist and showcase their work. You’ll see paintings, such as this one from artist Cristina Silvestri, sculptures, and more—and everything is for sale!

Items from the Jayson Home Fall Flea Market

Fabulous Flea

It seems Jayson Home always has some great sale or event going on. Well, this weekend is the awesome-est of them all: the Fall Flea Market. They pitch a tent in their brick courtyard next to their store at 1885 N. Clybourn from Friday through Sunday and fill it with one-of-a-kind vintage furniture, lighting, artwork, and other unique items picked up by their buyers in Europe. The first 100 customers on Friday (the store opens at 8 a.m.) will receive a free, made-in-Chicago Jayson Home candle. And if all that browsing works up an appetite, there are going to be food trucks from Sweet Ride, Falafel Bros., e.leaven, The Tamale Guy, and Southern Mac & Cheese. Can’t make it? Starting Monday October 15th you’ll be able to find some of the items on jaysonhome.com.
