Tour a Cool Kitchen in Harbor Country This Weekend

Fall is here, and that means Harbor Country is going to be lovely. There’s no better time to check out Design for Dignity’s annual Kitchen Walk.

My favorite Onion article ever: Mr. Autumn Man. And while it refers to smug fall-loving denizens of New England, I like to think it could also apply to Chicagoans reveling in our version of New England: Harbor Country. So, Dukes and Duchesses of Fall, grab your pumpkin-spiced coffees—I’ve got a nice weekend event for you in Harbor Country (and I promise, you will not be mocked by a satirical newspaper).

Designs for Dignity’s 10th annual Kitchen Walk is coming up Saturday, October 12. This fun event offers a chance to check out five homes, ranging from cute cottages to feats of modern architecture (such as a house made out of shipping containers). Each stop on the self-guided tour includes snacks and wine, and the day ends with a reception at the Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks. All proceeds go to Designs for Dignity, which helps non-profits secure the furniture and space-planning assistance they need to improve people’s lives.

The tour begins at 11 a.m. EST at Susan Fredman at Home, 15998 Red Arrow Highway, Union Pier. Buy tickets ($100) here
